I fell asleep
61
you were there
even though you weren't there
and i fell asleep
your breath on my neck
sweet whispers to me
you were there even though you weren't there
and i fell asleep
so strange
something that used to be so easy
has become a struggle
falling into the deep escape of rest
was what i waited for
and now
i have to fight my way through the dream chamber
just to get a few hours of relief
but you were there
even though you weren't there
with a key
kissing my forehead
and allowing me to fall softly into the darkened forest
where i am always home.
i know you weren't there
but it felt like you were.

I feel the depth of a closeness so wonderful and painted true in your words of rest. i must say if he doesnt know, maybe you should tell him.
Great poem. Very effective. Yes, that is right. Who is it? Is it like you broke up or something?
Lovely work :)
awesome this was. I enjoyed it.
"you were there even though you werent there." maybe your ghost? or just simply a deep enough memory, I could feel your presence lingering, and though you werent there physically, I was able to feel comfort through the senses of when you used to be. I could smell you on my pillows, see the things you left behind, with so much to remind me of you, it brought you back to life. ~~Nikki J.
You use words like a brush stroke on an empty canvas waiting to be identified
Hi Pink'um: The "darkened forest" is a great image for the dreamworld. The specter of fond memory is comforting and the longing is palpable.
Well lady you have made me think about the one I love again through reading your work. Always such a wonderful adventure into your emotions. And oh how mine seem to weep until I read more from you. Great job. Such beauty.
this is lovertalk. it's shows pink umbrela is a passionate woman.
that was just a little poem i came up with after reading this.
....you take to places I've never been ....and that, for me, is always a hallmark of a great writer - thanks for these poetic memories ..... it's been quite a journey ....and we're not even there ..... yet!
Lovely, pink umbrella. If I understand you, I think I've been there too. When she comes in my dreams I am released into rest. Then I wake up ...

Short and to the point Pink. :) But, I guess the biggest question is 'who' were you referring to. It isn't a question you have to actually answer, but it does make one think about what you have been thinking about. More accurately, "who" you have on your mind. As always it's a pleasure. :)
